I’ll have to preface this poem so it will make sense. My grandmother’s advice on rekindling an old flame is never go back… She akins relationships to still water. While you’re in the water splashing around, you will kick up all the sediment at the bottom causing the water that was once clear to turn muddy. So you get out of the dirty water, only to have fate lead you back to that very same pond. At first glance the water is still and clear, b/c all the sediment once kicked up has settled back to the bottom of the pond. You’ll be tempted to get back in…see how the water feels. Her advice is regardless of how still and clear the water may seem, you step back in and all that mud, muck, and murk will get kicked back up and you’re right back where you started. With that here is my poem I came up with on the way to get the mail today. (Inspiration finds me at the oddest places and hours.)
